WHEN I AM WEAK, THEN I AM STRONG- Charity Kimes

  -

“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

2 Corinthians 12:10

Self-improvement is the preoccupation of our day. As women, we are inundated with messages suggesting that our hair isn’t shiny enough, our skin lacks a certain glow, and our abs could surely use some sculpting. Our bodies are gifts to be cherished, yet we find ourselves scrutinizing our reflections daily as we peer into our morning mirrors.

While physical fitness is an important part of caring for bodies, we are so much more than our physiques. I’ve personally discovered that a little encouragement from my friends to lift weights slightly beyond my comfort zone and complete one more rep than I believe I can surprises me, revealing strength I didn’t realize I possessed. The same is true spiritually speaking. Within a supportive group of Christ-following friends I find the resolve to give my full effort to my Christian walk day after day.

After all, the most vital aspect of ourselves that requires strengthening cannot be refined with the latest workout routines. Yet, the significance of growing stronger together remains steadfast. Isolation is a deceitful tactic of the enemy. We are called the body of Christ for a reason—we are meant to navigate life in community.

2 Corinthians 12:10 states, “For when I am weak, then I am strong.” When we surrender our burdens to Jesus, He lifts them from our shoulders. Additionally, He blesses us with a precious resource: our own circle of strong, Christ-following women. If you haven’t yet found your spiritual workout partners, I urge you to seek them out today. Allow the Father to fortify you with His word and through the invaluable gift of the community He has placed around you.

CHALLENGE:  Which Godly women has the Father surrounded you with in this season to strengthen and encourage you? How can you best utilize these special friendships to build up your spiritual muscles? Who can you encourage today?
