““For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10
At three years old I was miraculously healed of asthma. I was in the middle of a severe asthma attack when my parents heard a TV preacher declare that “someone at home was being healed of asthma.” They prayed and my lungs instantly filled with air, color came back to my pale face, and I’ve never struggled to breathe again. It was a life changing experience of the love and power of God.
Fast forward to 2010, I’m now an almost 23 year old finding my way in my new home of Nasvhille, TN. Worried about what this new world of biscuits and sweet tea was going to do to my waistline I began running. It wasn’t my favorite activity, but I liked how I felt and it eased my mind about enjoying the biscuits. After months of running, now 23 years of age, I decided to tackle a half marathon. The day of the race came quickly and as I ran the Lord whispered to me, “Do you remember when you couldn’t breathe? I opened your lungs for moments like this.” Of course, I didn’t remember the exact moment of my healing, but I’d heard the story countless times. It dawned on me that I had been healed 20 years prior to running this race. My healing wasn’t intended just to end my suffering, it was intended to open my potential.
Ephesians 2:10 says “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Sometimes the Lord stirs something in us and we can’t help but to take action immediately. But sometimes He plants a seed and it takes time and the changing of seasons to germinate before it finally comes into bloom.
